Management of Hyponatremia in Hospitalized Patients: Role of Pharmacists in Improving Patient Care- Describe the impact of hyponatremia on morbidity, mortality, and use of health care resources in hospitalized patients. Identify distinguishing characteristics of acute and chronic hyponatremia and of hyponatremia in patients with hypovolemia, euvolemia, and hypervolemia. Describe options for managing acute hyponatremia in hospitalized patients, including the role of arginine vasopressin receptor antagonists. Identify at least three ways that pharmacists can help improve the management of hyponatremia in hospitalized patients and after discharge. Outline a plan for monitoring patients for development and resolution of hyponatremia.
